FEIST

Today I want to highlight Feist. Feist is one of those singers whose music is a little… out there. I actually thought she was European the first time I heard about her. I bought the Reminder at a cafe (which will remain nameless until they start paying me to nonchalantly mention them in my posts) years ago but only recently realised she is Canadian.

She’s actually a dual citizen because her dad holds USA citizenship and she got it from him. When I start highlighting american artists I will post another of her songs.

Anyhow, she shares my birth month and day but she is eleven years my senior. She started her career in 1999 and she currently has eleven Juno Awards and four Grammy nominations along with a slew of other awards.

This is perhaps one of her most famous pieces, 1234, and the music video on this is colourful and creative. The videography alone won her a few awards. I love the sound of her voice and this tune is pretty catchy. If you’ve never heard it before, I bet you’ll get it stuck in your head once you do – but not in a bad way. She offers the listeners an amount of variety that isn’t often seen, or I should say heard, in pieces of this relative simplicity meaning that you won’t get bored or annoyed.

I hope you like this as much as I do – but if you don’t… tell me about it in the comments section. Cheers! 🙂
